Job Description

Bishop Dunne Catholic School is seeking a highly qualified Theology Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year .


As the only diocesan Catholic school serving students in grades six through twelve, Bishop Dunne is proud to reflect the rich diversity of Dallas. More than 75% of our students identify as students of color, and approximately half are Catholic.

The ideal candidate is a dedicated educator who understands both the rewards and demands of teaching at the secondary level and demonstrates a strong command of theology content. Teachers at Bishop Dunne are responsible for designing daily lessons aligned with course goals, assessing student work, maintaining accurate records, leading an advisory group, and fulling standard administrative responsibilities, including attendance, gradebook management, and narrative comments.

General Duties

Rooted in the mission of Catholic education to "Teach as Jesus did," teachers at Bishop Dunne are expected to exemplify Christ's love, compassion, and commitment to excellence. This position reports to the Principal and carries decision-making responsibility with established school policies, philosophy, and curriculum.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Must be a practicing Catholic.
  • Bachelor's degree in theology from an accredited Catholic university.
  • A Minimum of 12 credits in education or a valid Texas teaching certificate required.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching students in grades 6-12.
  • Excellent active listening, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships across the school and community.
  • Proficiency with instructional technology and related professional tools.
  • Ability to pass all background checks and comply with the Diocese of Dallas Safe Environment Program.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
