In this role, you will provide specialized nursing care to patients undergoing a variety of diagnostic and interventional procedures in a fast‑paced, technologically advanced environment. Working collaboratively with physicians, technologists, and other members of the care team, you will prepare patients for special procedures, conduct thorough assessments, verify consents, and ensure safety protocols are followed throughout each procedure. You will be responsible for administering medications and moderate sedation as ordered, continuously monitoring patient status, vital signs, and comfort, and responding quickly and appropriately to any changes in condition. The Registered Nurse Special Procedures PRN will assist during complex procedures by anticipating provider needs, maintaining a sterile field, and adhering to infection prevention and radiation safety standards. Following procedures, you will support patient recovery, provide clear discharge instructions, and educate patients and families about post‑procedure care and follow‑up. You will document all aspects of patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record, coordinate with inpatient and outpatient units for smooth patient flow, and participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives focused on enhancing patient outcomes. As part of Portsmouth Regional Hospital’s culture of excellence and continuous improvement, you will engage in ongoing professional development, stay current with evidence‑based practices in special procedures and interventional care, and support the orientation and mentoring of new team members.
